Fellowship is the second pillar of Rotary after "SERVICE"
and our vital force.
Rotary Fellowships should not be the best kept secret in Rotary,
but they are! There are over 70 different Rotary Fellowships.
Each Rotary Fellowship focuses on a specific vocational or
recreational discipline. Rotary Fellowships give Rotarians the
opportunity to network with other Rotarians with whom they share
interests. Fellowship is the foundation on which Rotary was
built, and it is the source of Rotary's strength. Learn more
about Rotary Fellowships and how they benefit you, your club and
Rotary's global mission:
Fellowship opportunities are available to the members at the
Club meetings, at members homes, at fellowship events, outings
and on occasions of joy, grief and illness.
Club meetings:
Most Rotarians are successful professionals and business
executives because they bear opportunities knock and take
advantage of them. Once a week the opportunity for Rotary
fellowship occurs at each Club meeting, but not all members bear
it knocking.
The weekly Club meeting is a special privilege of Rotary
membership. It provides the occasion to visit with fellow
members, to meet visitors you have not known before and to share
your personal friendship with other members.
Our Club which has developed a reputation of being "friendly
Clubs" follows a few simple steps:
First, members are encouraged to sit in a different scat or at a
different table each week.
Second, Rotarians are urged to sit with a member they may not
know as well as their long-time personal friends.
Third, members invite new members or visitors to join their
table just by saying, "Come join us, we have an empty chair at
this table".
Fourth, members share the conversation around the table rather
than merely eating in silence or talking privately to the person
next to them. Fifth, Rotarians make a special point of trying to
get acquainted with all members of the Club by seeking out those
they may not know.
For our members, who follow these five easy steps, an entirely
new opportunity for fellowship knocks each week. Rotarians
realise that warm and personal friendship is the cornerstone of
our great Rotary Club.
Rotarians Homes:
Several Rotarians invite their Rotarian friends as well as other
members, particularly the new ones for a fellowship evening over
lunch or dinner. This helps to develop camaraderie and
friendship between not only the Rotarians, but also their
families.
Fellowships at homes have a special warmth inculcating bonding
and intimacy.
Fellowship events and outings:
All club fellowship events are organized, giving all the members
the opportunity to meet with each other in an informal setting,
with fewer constraints of time and away from the hubbub of daily
work pressures. Having fun together is an essential ingredient
to being able to work with each other in the service of
community.
Outings in terms of a picnic, holidays together, and visits to
foreign lands raises fellowship to higher plane. The Rotarians
and their families, who take up this opportunity are thrown
together over one or several days, resulting in a deep
understanding of each others capabilities and needs. Many a
service project are conceived and hatched in such outings, while
partaking in the pleasure of travel, food, culture, et all.
